Rugby is one of the main sports for boys at Dartford Grammar School, and is played over the first three terms.
The standard of rugby is very high across all the year groups, and many players at each age level play representative rugby at either county or district levels. Last year the 1st XV made it to the last 32 of the Natwest Cup, which is the furthest that the school has ever reached.
The fixture list is extremely busy with many local schools providing very competitive fixtures and long lasting rivalries. DGS also runs fiercely competitive house Rugby Festivals in the lower school which involve a full Saturday morning of fixtures for the majority of boys in the year groups.
Each year group is coached by at least 2 experienced coaches providing high levels of knowledge and expertise. Most year groups enter at least one tournament over the course of the season and at U13, U16 and U18 level boys will also compete at the prestigious Rosslyn Park National 7s tournament at the end of the year.
