In years nine to eleven, pupils at Dartford Grammar School follow the exciting AQA GCSE Science specification. The concept of this specification is outlined in the 'curriculum overview' document which can be found in the documents menu. The majority of the pupils at Dartford Grammar School will take Triple Science and will obtain separate GCSE grades in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. Each subject is taught by a teacher who is a specialist in that particular area of Science. A small cohort of pupils will study for a Core and Additional Science GCSE. The curriculum is taught through a series of interactive, practical based lessons in which pupils are encouraged to thrink critically, analytically and ultimately become independant learners to help them with their transition to the International Baccalaureate.
In year 9 pupils will learn all of the Core components of the curriculum, in year 10 they will study the Additional components and in year 11 they will study the extension units. We are currently striving to achieve the best results ever in an attempt to better the GCSE results of 2013 in which 94% of puils achieved A/A*.
