DGS maintains its highly ranked position in the Sunday Times Parent Power rankings
The Sunday Times recently released the 25th edition of their highly rated rankings of the elite schools in secondary education – the Parent Power publication. This study includes both independent and state schools, and is compiled with the cooperation of schools to highlight outright academic achievement, irrespective of the starting points of the children educationally.
Of particular note is the fact that the study points to Dartford Grammar School as one of the top providers of the International Baccalaureate in Britain, turning in ‘academic performances in the IB not far behind Sevenoaks, the leading exponent of the internationally recognised examination system’. This gives us comfort that our award a year ago as ‘The Sunday Times IB School of the Year’ still holds merit!
For the record, our IB average score for the 2016-17 academic year was 36.7, up almost a whole point from the level a year earlier.
It is notable that the selective grammar schools of Kent, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire dominate the state school rankings for the southeast region, and those in Kent feature particularly well, with three ranking in the top 4. Dartford Grammar School is one of those, along with The Judd School and Tonbridge Grammar School.
