In the summer term 2015, the Creative Arts departments were delighted to present a whole school production of ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Over 60 cast members from across all year groups came together for the 3 night spectacle. Students made up the cast, crew, orchestra, tech team, back stage and front of house teams to provide the audience with a great experience.
A special congratulations has to go out to the main cast with Lizzie Davies giving us a stunning portrayal of Dorothy, Luke Stapley making us laugh with the Scarecrow, Sam Fenton showing us the excellent physicality of the Tin Man and Joe Idem bringing the humour and cowardliness of the Lion. Trish Chinzara and Harry Smith showed us the good and bad witches with flair, Joe Donnelly gave us his version of the great and powerful Oz, and we had a special guest appearance from our very own Mr Tibbot. We must also congratulate Liam Bannister (Oz Guard), Joe Bullock (Toto’s puppeteer) and Cameron Telfor (Mayor of the Munchkins) for gaining main roles in Year 7.
All 3 nights were sold out with the stunning costumes and props leading the way for a fun and flamboyant version of the show. The Mayor wrote individual letters to the cast members to express his delight and two of our main actors were asked to audition for a Performing Arts school.
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in making the show so special and a massive congratulations to all the members of the cast and crew. – I look forward to this year’s production and hope to see you all at auditions!
