International Baccalaureate Diploma Results, 2013
Following the record International Baccalaureate Diploma results published in July, over 92% of our university applicants have now received confirmation of the place at their chosen university, with over 50% destined for the prestigious Russell Group. Alongside the 11 students about to embark upon courses in Dentistry, Medicine, and Veterinary Science, they will be studying a full range of academic subjects from Law to Languages, and from English Literature to Engineering.
This week it was confirmed how few IB Diploma students drop out from university. ‘The rigour and intellectual appeal of the IB Diploma ensure that Diploma holders are likely to stay the course at university, enjoy their time there, and so be well placed to secure desirable employment,’ said John Oakes, Headmaster.
We succeed in keeping in touch with a large proportion of our alumni. This year the network reveals an exceptional record of two students who left the school in 2009. Both students have been awarded a first-class honours degree in Classics (Greek and Latin), an unusual distinction for students from a state school. Christopher Clark (who attended Westgate Primary School, Dartford) graduated from Warwick University. He is working on the Russian desk at SG Hambros Bank. George Cooban (who attended York Road Primary School, Dartford) has graduated from St John’s College, Oxford, and was awarded the University Gibbs prize for his work on Greek philosophy. He intends to become an archivist.
