Design & Technology
Design and Technology offers students the chance to develop their practical problem solving ability using designing, manufacturing and evaluative skills over a range of materials and context-based projects. DT develops aesthetic and functional awareness and encourages creative, selective and reasoned thinking. Programmes of study in Key Stages 3 and 4 follow National Curriculum and IB Middle Years Programme guidelines. The MYP Areas of Interaction are Approaches to Learning, Community and Service, Environment, Health and Social and Human Ingenuity. A range of projects facilitate the design and realisation of products, both artefacts and systems, within these Areas of Interaction and are generally based on the themes of Industry, School, Recreation, Community, Business or Home.
