Initial Teacher Training
Why train at DGS?
Here at Dartford Grammar School, we pride ourselves on building a curriculum and ethos that creates a learning community that develops international citizens. We offer a unique curriculum based on the educational philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). This consists of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in the lower school and the Diploma Programme (DP) in the Sixth Form. This diverse and exciting curriculum provides you with an opportunity to train in a unique and highly successful school setting.
We have an excellent record of training teachers. In the last three years, we have successfully trained over fifty teachers to help them achieve QTS. We work with a variety of teacher education organisations including universities and School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) providers.
A team of experienced practitioners deliver our in-school training. A mentor in your subject specialism will support you as well as a team of professional tutors who will oversee your training and offer well-being support. We believe in equipping you with the knowledge, skills and practical experience to enable you to make teaching an enjoyable and sustainable career in whatever context you choose to teach. Every lesson shapes a life.
You are welcome to visit us for a school experience day where you will be able to observe lessons and find out more about the various routes to train to become a teacher.
