Key Stage 3 Clubs & Societies
We are driven to offer a wide range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom and these include the Performing Arts, Sport, DofE, clubs, trips and expeditions. The co-curriculum promotes the development of working with others and where new abilities and talents can be encouraged and nurtured. On this page you will see the clubs and societies open to those in Key Stage 3, with the timetables in links.

Art Club
Art Club
Art club introduces lots of short projects that enable students to explore a range of materials, techniques and processes that would not be possible in lessons. Come along to unlock your creativity, you will find it somewhere amongst the vast activities on offer!

Athletics
Athletics
Open to all for an introduction to the variety of athletics events and then the opportunity to specialise in their chosen events when appropriate.

Basketball(Years 7 & 8)
Basketball
Open to all to improve their skills and get involved in small sided games. Change footwear and take blazers off in the sportshall. Trainers must be worn but no change into kit needed. Just take blazers off.

Brass Ensemble

Brass players of all levels in ALL Years are invited to join this club.

Chess Club
Chess Club
Chess club is open to all years. Each week well over 100 students compete in individual and pair matches to time. Not only does this improve critical thinking skills but we play against other schools and enter regional and national competitions and of course the annual school championship.

Chinese Culture Club
Chinese Culture Club
A good opportunity to have fun lessons while exploring Chinese culture. You will learn Chinese stories, songs, artwork. All are welcome.

Whether you have a love for the Ancient World, have read the Greek myths or love the Roman army, or just want to know more about the Ancient world in general, then Classics Club is the place for you. Come along to have all your classical questions answered.

Communication Club(Years 7, 8 and 9))
Communication Club
A safe space for members to make friends and play games with people in their year group. We play card games, board games, and sometimes sports like table tennis, badminton and football.

Computer Science Club
Computer Science Club
Computing club will hep you to improve your logical reasoning and computational thinking skills by trying out different hands on projects in computing. Every term will have a different focus and it will vary from simple scratch projects to building a fortune teller with a microbit.
The maximum capacity at Computer Science Club is 25 students. -
Cross Country
Cross Country
Open to all abilities wanting to improve their fitness and competitive running abilities. The club takes place at the school field. Selected runners will be invited to train off site at Dartford Park when appropriate.

Do you take a keen interest in the world around you and the dilemmas we face today? If so, KS3 debate club is an exciting opportunity for members of Y7 and Y8 to explore these big questions, whilst learning about the art of debating. Not only will your voice be heard during debates, but also through the student suggestions that will help to form our topics of debate each week!

Eco Council
Eco Council
Join us on our mission to make the school nicer, greener, more sustainable and to cut our carbon footprint. Tasks might include: developing a zero net carbon strategy, planting trees or coming up with ideas to reduce our waste.

Film Club
We will watch a variety of films chosen to challenge and surprise us. These will include gems from the past, and hot-off-the-presses blockbusters that simply must be discussed! Typically, a theme or genre will be decided upon and a list of films to choose from will be shown. In addition, we will hold occasional 'workshops' where we will discuss a film more in depth, trial filmmaking, and learn other relevant aspects of film and media like editing.

The club takes place after school outside in the outside classroom and garden in all weathers! We grow vegetables, fruit and flowers and there's always something to do in the garden - all year round!

GCSE Vocal Group
Students in Year 9-11 who wish to sing in harmony and take part in all musical activities in and out of school events are invited to join this group.

An opportunity for Y7 and 8 to explore Geography concepts and current events outside of the curriculum. Students engage in activities and presentations about their favourite areas of the subject. Student suggestions for activities are welcome.

IRIS Club
IRIS Club
A STEM club that gives you the opportunity to work with research projects building your experience and mastering the fundamentals which will allow you to progress into original research work. The research projects vary from BigData to cosmic mining. At the end of the reserach you will get the opportunity to present to findings in a conference in London.

Journalism Society
Whether it is hunting for newsworthy events, investigating an ongoing story, conducting interviews with interesting people, or researching information for a feature - everyone has a place at journalism. And modern journalism is not just about writing: photographs and videos are also vital to sharing information. Even if you don't write, there will also be opportunities to edit articles, design magazines, and upkeep and maintain our website. We have won school journalism awards in the past and are aiming for another award this year - open to all Key Stages!

Key Stage Council
Key Stage Council
Students are eligible to apply to be one of two form representatives on their respective key-stage council. The application process typically takes place in Terms 1-2. Each council meets once every term. Council members represent the views of their form and year group to discuss and shape day to day school policy. Whole school council will also meet to discuss charity events too. Council meetings are led by the Assistant head in each key-stage.

A club where we build Lego models, have free builds, and themed builds, timed builds and prizes for the best models produced. We also explore making Lego stop motion movies.

Litter Pickers
Taking to the streets to pick up litter, Dartford Litter Pickers have grown from strength to strength in helping the community be cleaner. Not only is it enjoyable to get out of the school gates, and go for a walk with friends, but it is a chance to give back to a community that does so much for us!

In Maths Club we explore a range of mathematical topics extending beyond the KS3 curriculum. Through games, activity and creativity we learn and apply new mathematical concepts, developing our problem solving skills.

Maths Challenge Club
An opportunity for students to enter a renowned nationwide mathematics competition. Students put their mathematical knowledge and problem solving skills to the test, advancing to different levels for a chance to win a medal. Whilst there is no weekly meeting, students should join the google classroom to be kept up to date as to when practices and competitions will take place.

Train to become part of the school's Tech Team working with state of the art digital sound and light equipment in the Mick Jagger Centre. You will then be able to offer services during school and community events. Some evening engagements may be necessary.

Senior Orchestra: Musicians at Grades 4 and above are invited to join this prestigous group. No auditions! Once joined, participation is expected in all weekly rehearsals.

All Year 7 students are required to attend up to the Y7 inter house festival, then ongoing training is open to all who want to make the most of developing their skills and be involved in inter school fixtures from A to G squads.

Do you enjoy writing stories, poems, plays (or indeed anything else)? Scribbler's Ink is the place for you. Here, we believe that Scribbling is the best thing ever. Join us to nerd out about creative writing and to enter competitions. We have had several students published in the last few years and are looking to maintain that streak this year.
