2022 English Schools Cup Final - Juniors are National Champions and Intermediates are runners-up!

Saturday 2nd July saw our athletes at the English Schools Cup Final in Abingdon. We had both Junior and Intermediate teams in the final, and hopes were very high for great performances from both teams.

Both teams performed at their very best, and were a real credit to the school in all ways as they met stiff  competition from around the country and rose to the challenges with enthusiasm and ambition. 

Conditions were not great in the afternoon which made things quite difficult for our Juniors in their field events, but despite this they performed very well overall and their competition finished with our young boys being crowned as National Champions!

The Intermediate team looked set to do something very similar but had that impending victory snatched from them with a disqualification in the relay. The deflation they felt should not however mask the achievement of finishing as Runners-Up in a competition of this standard. 

These results come with hard work and dedication on the part of the boys, equalled by the dedication and encouragement and advice of the PE staff here at school. The boys are the stars though - we are blessed with much natural talent in ahtletics which runs fairly consistently across the years and keeps the school very much in a National frame of reference. (This very week we have two of our older boys at the Under 18 European Championships in Jerusalem which again gives credence to the stage on which we feature!)
