DGS is first school to sign the Emissions Reduction Pledge 2020
On Friday 2nd November, Dartford Grammar School became the first school in the country to sign the Emissions Reduction Pledge 2020. The Emissions Reduction Pledge is an initiative led by the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy, asking public sector and higher education sector organisations to voluntarily agree to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2020.
Dartford Grammar School recognises the pivotal role that schools play, in shaping the behaviours surrounding the use of energy and influencing the next generation. By being the first school in the country to sign up to the Pledge, Dartford Grammar School has set an example, highlighting the role of schools in reducing carbon emissions in the UK.
In addition to the agreement to reduce carbon emissions, the Pledge also asks organisations to report on their energy consumption.
