DGS stars on the Best of the Best all-stars UK athletics list

Athletics is ultimately about striving for personal bests – running faster, jumping higher, throwing further. Perhaps the best way to sum up this season is to look at those who now stand amongst the best of the best on the UK all-time lists.

One shining example is Desire Ayinla, whose determination to break the U13 high jump national record saw him succeed not once, but twice. He first cleared 1.74m, before extending the record 2 weeks later to 1.75m, firmly placing himself among the country’s elite.

That same spirit was evident in the discus rivalry between Kendrick Onolememen and Obinna Aniebo, pictured on the left. Early in the season, Kendrick won the English Schools title with Obinna in second place. Just three weeks later, at the England Athletics Championships, both athletes threw an incredible three metres further, moving to 3rd and 5th respectively on the UK all-time list. Their relentless drive has since pushed them even further: Kendrick now holds the UK all-time best throw for his age group, with Obinna close behind in second place. Remarkably, Kendrick achieved this milestone while still a year young in his age category.

This season has set new standards for our athletes – not just in results, but in the determination, resilience, and ambition that define their performances. And they are clearly not finished yet - 2026 promises to be a massive year for DGS athletes.
