Dartford Grammar School’s Year 11 Class of 2024 celebrate impressive GCSE results

Following our outstanding IB results in July, we are delighted that our Year 11 students have achieved a similarly impressive, and richly deserved, set of GCSE results.   These are the product of their hard work over the last few years, combined with the considerable support of their subject teachers.

Year 11 have achieved the school’s strongest ever set of examined GCSE results, with 77% of all grades at 9-7, and 27.3% at grade 9.   Students’ Attainment 8 score was 78.24 (7.82 as the average GCSE grade.)

Impressively, all students have followed a broad, balanced and challenging programme of academic study, including two languages, to GCSE. This places them in a unique position in comparison to the national picture.

Particular mention should go to those students who achieved nine or more subjects at the maximum grade 9: Ben Atherton, Neil Gadgil, Joshua Magbadelo, Nafees Noor Mohamed, Afraz Punekar, Kavin Raja Rajeswaran, Agam Sama, Stakhey Sedykh, Tristan Sidhu, Aarya Thanappan, Ared Ulqini, Tharmisan Vijayakantharuban and  Dilan Watkinson.  These results place students at the pinnacle of academic achievement nationally.

The Head, Mr Metcalf, commented, ‘Year 11 should be very proud of their achievements:  I congratulate them whole-heartedly on the hard work and commitment that has so clearly gone into these impressive results.  I don’t doubt that the Year 11 class of 2024 will now excel in the sixth form.  They fully deserve their success.

The curriculum at Dartford Grammar School continues to be broad and academically rigorous with a distinctive and unique international dimension that prepares our students for success in the future. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is the next step with Year 11 now completed, and we anticipate that students will continue to reap the rewards of full-time study in our inclusive and vibrant Sixth Form. I must congratulate our students for their collective diligence and determination which has rewarded them with these outstanding results.’
