IB Record-Breaking Class of 2017

Having already been awarded Sunday Times International Baccalaureate School of the Year in 2016 for excellent examination performance, Dartford Grammar School’s most recent Year 13 students proved their academic prowess by achieving even better results this year.

The school broke its previous record with an impressive average IB Diploma score of 36.7 points, which is exceeding the worldwide average by approximately 6 points. Forty five percent of students scored 38 points or more, placing them in the top ten percent of students in the world. Twenty four percent of students scored 40 points or more which is the equivalent of more than 4 A* grades at A Level.

Patrick Sykes gained a perfect 45 points, achieved by only 218 students from around 150,000 IB Diploma students worldwide. Louis Brady, Abhey Dhir, William Eaton, Christopher Mason, Birranavan Pathmasri, Callum Sullivan and Samuel Willcox gained 44 points with Karen Sarmiento part of a large group close behind on 43 points and she is delighted to have gained entry to Cambridge to read Computer Science.

Every International Baccalaureate student in the class of 2017 gained the Diploma qualification which includes studies of Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and at least one foreign language. This breadth and depth of both knowledge and skills ensures employability in a highly competitive global job market.

I am delighted that the number of our students gaining entry to their first or second choice universities is at a record high.”
