Rugby 7s

The U16 rugby 7s squad, supported by Mr Martin and Mr Peters, took part in the Kent Cup tournament at Sutton Valence School on Thursday (14th March).  To everybody's delight, it seemed to be the first time in recent memory that 7s had been played in sunny conditions. 

We had been drawn against a tough set of rugby schools, so we knew we were going to be up against it from the first. That said, the boys did tremendously well to win three of the four matches on the way to topping the group. In one close encounter with Sevenoaks School, we ended the game with only 5 players permitted to play which made for a lung-busting and hair-pulling finish for the boys and coaches, respectively. 

Unfortunately our day ended in defeat in the quarter-final. We had run out of steam and made one too many errors to beat high-quality opposition. The score was close and on another day we might have had more fortune with refereeing decisions - such is sport.

Everybody put in a great shift. Special mention goes to Zac Sargeant, Michael Oyetti and Tishe Fatona for stand-out performances across the day.
