The Dartford Grammar School community celebrate record-breaking GCSE results in 2019
2019 has been a tremendous year for public examination success by the staff and students of Dartford Grammar School. The record breaking 2019 Sixth Form International Baccalaureate Diploma results have been matched by a comparable record breaking GCSE success story. The GCSE results, published today, show an Attainment 8 total of 74.1, with 67% of all grades being awarded at Level 9-7 in our academically rigorous curriculum, where 99.3% of students complete courses in 2 Modern Foreign Language GCSEs; one European and one Asian language. 11 students: Rithik Rajan, Cameron Telfer, Ihsan Abdul-Aziz, James Yu, Alvin Agidi, Thomas Tanner, Samjak Jain, Andres Martinez, Rajeev Sureshkumar, Lucas Dunckley and Ben Spivey achieved 8 or more Level 9 grades and have all enrolled for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma course starting on 2 September 2019.
The school’s specialisms in Languages and Science continue to excel. We are proud of our students for bucking the national trend by completing a GCSE course in two Languages and out-performing national averages significantly at a time when the level of challenge in Modern Foreign Languages continues to rise. The results in Science are also exceptional with an average of 81% of all Biology, Chemistry and Physics entries achieving level 7 – 9. In addition to leading nationally on Language development and excellence in the United Kingdom, Dartford Grammar School has, over the summer, been selected as a National Computing Centre of Excellence hub to lead on Computer Science development and in 2019, 84% of Computing GCSE grades were L7-9. The curriculum at Dartford Grammar School continues to be broad and academically rigorous with a distinctive and unique international dimension, preparing our students in the best possible way for success in future.
