On the day itself, Thursday 6^th March, school was abuzz with excitement as students from Year 7 to 13 admired each other's stunning costume efforts. Students and staff alike had clearly spent a lot of time and effort preparing thoughtful outfits to celebrate some of their best-loved and most memorable book characters. Students who were lucky enough to have Music lessons on the day found themselves immersed in the Emerald City of Oz, while those in Japanese would have done a double take to see Ms Jestico dressed as Sue Townsend's iconic 80s book character 'Adrian Mole'. At lunchtime as students re-fuelled, they pored over literary descriptions of food and matched them with the novels they came from. Students also participated in the 'Masked Reader' competition, trying to decipher the mystery voice of their teacher reading the final lines of famous books - which proved to be quite a challenge! Students also entered the 'Tweet' competition, writing clever and perceptive tweets from the perspective of a book character. Winners of the costume competition will enjoy a well-deserved trip to the Warner Bros 'Harry Potter studios' in June.
