Year 8 host Senior Citizens' Christmas Lunch
On December 5th the Year 8 students continued the tradition of hosting a Christmas lunch for local Senior Citizens. This event has proved hugely popular since its inception some five years ago, and our new cohort of Year 8 students once again took great pleasure in organising and participating in all aspects of the lunch. The boys set up the room with tables and decorations, welcomed the guests, served the lunch, organised a bingo session, amused the guests with lively singing, and cleared up afterwards. Some six pieces of musical entertainment were brought to the event, with Year 7 boys joining the choir, and an impromptu operatic rendition by Mr Ed Hughes was added to the programme as the icing on the cake.
The event was overseen by Miss Kemp and the Year 8 team, and the Music department helped organise the musical part of the programme, but the boys were at the forefront of all aspects of the day. Our guests clearly enjoyed their time with us, and as ever it is heart-warming to see such strong inter-generational engagement and the enthusiasm of the students intent on making the a occasion memorable one!
