  Year 7 Bushcraft is a 3 day / 2 night trip that is an outdoor residential trip forming part of our induction offer to all students. Boys will participate in outdoor adventure activities including camp craft, fire workshops, wilderness trails, shelter workshops and games galore.  

• Year 7 Lancashire Rugby Tour
  Year 7 Lancashire Rugby Tour

  This 3 day / 2 night rugby tour is the climax to the 12-aside season. Matches will be arranged against leading schools in the North of England and boys will also watch live a Premiership rugby game and go ten-pin bowling.

• Sicily Trip
  Sicily Trip

  This classical expedition, open to students of Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilisation in Years 8-10 and 12-13, will provide the opportunity to travel around a stunning island which in ancient times was a cultural melting pot of Greek, Roman, and Carthaginian influences. Students will see all the major ancient sites, including the capital Palermo, Segesta, Selinunte, Agrigento (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Piazza Armerina with its spectacular Roman mosaics, Syracuse (the home of Archimedes), and Taormina with its wonderfully preserved Greek theatre.

• Dubai Cricket Tour
  Dubai Cricket Tour

  This Cricket tour is offered every two years and is open to all cricketers in Year 9 and Year 10 or those that are looking to develop an interest in the game. The tour will include games against strong school and club teams with cultural visits to nearby places of interest.

• Year 9 West Country Rugby Tour

  This is a 3 day/2 night rugby tour for Year 9 students that includes 2 games against local schools, a ticket to a Premiership rugby game and a tour of the national Principality Stadium in Cardiff. 

• Year 9 Mandarin Excellence Programme
  Year 9 Mandarin Excellence Programme

  A 10 day/9 nights Summer Camp in July, taking place in a major Chinese city at a top university. Under the planned itinerary, students will spend their mornings in academic sessions led by university lecturers, focusing on language and cultural studies. In the afternoons, they are organised into groups for excursions to renowned local cultural and historical sites, or to engage in practical language practice in public spaces like parks and supermarkets. Depending on the city, the visits may include iconic sites such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, various temples, or even opportunities to see giant pandas and other notable attractions.

  This 5 day/4 night residential trip targets language immersion for Year 9 students who have chosen the European language of Spanish. Cultural visits to Parc Guell, the Nou Camp stadium, las Ramblas and the Portaventura Theme Park are some of the means by which language development will be promoted. 

• Year 9 Cologne Trip

  This 5 day/4 night residential trip targets language immersion in a Year 9 student's chosen European language of German. Cultural visits to Aachen Cathedral, the Bayer Leverkusen Stadium Tour, the Chocolate Museum, Cologne Cathedral, the German Sports & Olympics Museum, Koblenz City, Marksburg Castle, and Phantasialand Theme Park are some of the means by which language development will be promoted. 

• Year 9 Rome Trip

  This Creativity Week trip to Rome gives our Year 9 Latin students the opportunity to explore one of the world’s great cities and one of the most important centres of classical civilisation. The itinerary for the trip will include the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Trajan’s Column, the Palatine Hill, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Catacombs, Piazza Navona, and St Peter’s Basilica.

• Year 9 Paris Trip

  This 5 day/4 night residential targets language immersion in a Year 9 student's chosen European language of French. Cultural visits to the Arc de Triomphe, a Bateaux Mouches boat trip, the Champs Elysées, the Catacombs of Paris, the Stade de France, Notre Dame cathedral, and the Parc Asterix Theme Park are some of the means by which language development will be promoted.

• Italy Ski Trip
  Italy Ski Trip

  This is an exciting opportunity for Year 9 and Year 10 students to experience a new country, culture and sport alongside their friends. No skiing experience is necessary, as all students will be taught in small ski classes which will be created based upon skill and experience. Students will receive 6 full days of lessons, with a qualified instructor, in a large ski resort, which has a variety of different skiing opportunities. This will enable all students to enjoy exciting new experiences and develop their skills, making clear progress across the week.

• Japan Trip

  Year 11 and Year 13 DGS students visit our 2 partner schools in Wakayama, Japan. Students will stay with a host family, take part in an exciting programme of Japanese Language and cultural activities at our partner schools and visit the fascinating sights of Japan. This is a 10/11 day trip with the return exchange taking place in March.

• China Trip
  China Trip

  Year 11 and Year 13 students will have opportunity to visit our exchange schools in Beijing or Shanghai during October Half Term. This trip offers a chance to interact with local students and experience their curriculum, alongside cultural visits and exploration to historical landmarks and sites such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, or the Pearl Tower, the Yu Garden etc, enhancing their language skills and cultural understanding, beneficial for their GCSE and IB studies.

• Taiwan Trip
  Taiwan Trip

  This 9 day / 8 night trip to Taiwan is open to Y11 and Y12 students of Chinese. The trip offers Immersive language course and cultural activities are scheduled alongside visits to night markets, Taipei 101, the ancient town of Tainan, the Palace Museum, and a bike ride along the beautiful Sun Moon Lake Trail. The trip will be a fantastic opportunity for students to experience Chinese language and culture first hand and develop students' communication and self-confidence in preparation for GCSE and IB examinations.

• Senior Scottish Rugby Tour
  Senior Scottish Rugby Tour

  This 4 day/3 night Senior Rugby Tour to Edinburgh launches the Senior rugby programme at the school. The tour includes 2 games of rugby against local school club teams, a day exploring the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and a visit to Murrayfield Stadium.

• Year 12 Lake District trip

  This 4 night residential trip is strongly recommended to IB Geography students to use as their individual fieldwork study project and to collect data for their course requirement. Students will be taught the essential geographical and scientific fieldwork techniques as well as extending their depth of understanding of the subject. Students will be writing 2500 words report on the findings from this trip that goes towards their IA component(20-25%) of final IB geography.

• Slapton, Devon
  Slapton, Devon

  This is a 5 day/4 night residential Field Study Week offers IB Biology students the opportunity to experience specialist training in ecological sampling methods and collecting primary data as well as detailed lessons on how to produce a high quality individual investigation. This is strongly recommended for all Biology students to use as the source of the Internal Assessment. The week is based at the Slapton Ley Field Studies Centre in Devon and is situated in both a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest.

• CERN, Geneva
  CERN, Geneva

  This 3 day/2 night residential offers Year 12 students the opportunity to visit CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. This exciting opportunity explores the cutting edge research of the particle accelerator and the complex logistical and technological issues involved in such an international project. Students will visit the United Nations building to see how the UN employs global networking opportunities. Additionally, students will visit the Red Cross Museum, the Towers of St. Pierre Cathedral and many other cultural attractions around Geneva.

• Y12 Exchange with Collège Sainte-Veronique in Liège
  Y12 Exchange with Collège Sainte-Veronique in Liège

  In order to promote their fluency and cultural knowledge, Year 12 students welcome and host a partnered Belgian student for a week. They then visit their partners in Liège and also get the opportunity to discover Brussels with its landmarks (The Grand Place, the Atomium, The European Quarter…). The stay in a French-speaking family is an extremely valuable experience which always benefits the students for their exams and their future career.

• Year 12 Madrid Exchange
  Year 12 Madrid Exchange

  This exchange is an excellent and unique opportunity for the students to practice, improve and extend their Spanish language skills, while also gaining first-hand experience of life in Spain. The aim of the trip is to give students a unique opportunity to spend time with a Spanish speaking family, and visit places of cultural interest, such as museums, galleries and the football stadium.

• Operation Wallacea
  Operation Wallacea

  Operation Wallacea offers Year 12 and Year 13 students bio-diversity research expeditions around the world. The most recent trip visited Selva Maya, Mexico; the largest expanse of tropical rainforest outside of the Amazon. Students spent a week working with university students collecting data in the jungle and then a week exploring the Mayan ruins near Akumal, with some diving with sea turtles included. In summer 2024 the expedition will be to Madagascar.

• Girls' Cambridge Sports Tour
  Girls' Cambridge Sports Tour

  This Girls Sports Tour is based in Cambridge with rugby and netball tournaments scheduled across the 3 day/2 night trip. A visit to the various colleges of Cambridge University is also included in the tour. 

• Auschwitz & Krakow
  Auschwitz & Krakow

  This incredible trip for Year 13 students is for 3 days and 2 nights. The trip includes a guided walking tour of Krakow's iconic landmarks, entrance to the Schindler Factory and a 6 hour tour of Auschwitz. The itinerary prompts students to reflect on the circumstances that create the conditions for genocide and hate crimes and the enormity of events that occurred during the Second World War.

  This 4 day/3 night residential targets language immersion in a Year 13 student's chosen European language of French. Cultural visits to the Eiffel Tower summit floor, the Arc de Triomphe, the Château de Versailles, a Bateaux Mouches boat trip, the Champs Elysees, and the Notre Dame cathedral are some of the means by which language development will be promoted.

• Year 13 Berlin Trip

  This 5 day/4 night residential targets language immersion in a Year 13 student's chosen European language of German. Cultural visits to the Olympic Stadium, Checkpoint Charlie Museum, Charlottenburg, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, the Reichstag, East Side Gallery, Holocaust Memorial, and the Berlin Wall Memorial are some of the means by which language development will be promoted.
